These terms apply to electrical work carried out by A.C.N Electrical Contractors Ltd and to your use of acnelectricalltd.com. Please read them before accepting a quote. By accepting a quote you agree to these terms.

In these terms, “we” and “us” means A.C.N Electrical Contractors Ltd, and “you” means the person or business engaging us. Where you are acting wholly or mainly outside your trade or profession you are a consumer, and the clauses marked as applying to consumers apply to you.
2. How a contract is made
An enquiry or an estimate given over the phone is not a contract. We may carry out a site survey before quoting, particularly on commercial and industrial work.
A quote we issue is an offer. A contract is formed when you accept that quote in writing, by email, by text or by signing it, or when you ask us to start the work. At that point these terms apply in full.
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless the quote states otherwise. After that we may requote, in particular where material prices have changed.
3. Prices, variations and extras
Our quote covers the work described in it and nothing else. It is based on the information you give us and on what was visible at the time of the survey.
Additional charges apply where:
- You ask for work outside the scope of the quote.
- The installation is found to be in a condition that could not reasonably have been seen at survey, such as concealed damage, undersized or deteriorated cabling, non-compliant existing work or hidden services.
- Remedial work is needed before our work can be completed safely or to BS 7671.
- Access is restricted, the working area is not ready, or a wasted visit is caused by nobody being on site at the agreed time.
- Parking charges, permits, congestion or clean air zone charges, or specialist access equipment are required.
We will tell you before carrying out any additional work and will agree the extra cost with you first, unless the situation is an immediate danger, in which case we will make the installation safe and tell you as soon as we can.
Prices exclude VAT unless stated. VAT is charged at the rate applying on the invoice date.
4. What we will do
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, by suitably qualified electricians, in line with BS 7671 18th Edition and current regulations in force at the time.
On completion we provide the certification the job requires, which may include an Electrical Installation Certificate, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, an EICR or a PAT testing report. Where the work is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, we will arrange notification.
Start dates and durations given to you are estimates in good faith. They are not guaranteed, and they depend on access, site readiness, material availability and the work of other trades.
Emergency and out-of-hours attendance is offered to existing commercial and industrial clients, and is arranged according to how urgent the fault is. Call-out rates for attendance outside our normal hours are confirmed before we attend.
5. What we need from you
You agree to:
- Give us safe and timely access to the property at the agreed times, and tell us about anything that affects safe working.
- Make sure the working area is clear, and move or protect furniture, stock, equipment and belongings before we arrive.
- Tell us about any asbestos, or any asbestos survey or register relating to the property. We will stop work and tell you if we encounter material we suspect contains asbestos, and the cost of its removal by a licensed contractor is yours.
- Provide electricity and water where the work needs them, and arrange parking where parking is controlled.
- Hold any planning permission, landlord consent, freeholder consent or licence the work requires, and confirm you are entitled to authorise the work.
- Keep children and pets away from the working area.
Where our work is delayed or a visit is wasted because these have not been met, we may charge for the time lost at our standard rate.
6. Payment
| Term | Detail |
|---|---|
| Deposit | 30% of the quoted price is payable on acceptance for jobs over £1,000, unless the quote says otherwise |
| Balance | Due on completion, or as set out in any staged payment schedule in the quote |
| Invoice terms | Payment within 14 days of the invoice date |
| Methods | Bank transfer and cash. We do not take card payments through this website |
| Longer jobs | We may invoice in stages as agreed sections are completed |
We may withhold certificates until the invoice is paid in full.
Materials and equipment we supply remain our property until you have paid for them in full. Risk in them passes to you on delivery to site.
If you do not pay on time we may suspend further work and charge interest. For business clients, interest and compensation are charged under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 at 8% above the Bank of England base rate. For consumers, interest is charged at 4% a year above the Bank of England base rate.
If you dispute part of an invoice, tell us within 7 days of receiving it and pay the undisputed balance while we resolve it.
7. Your right to cancel, if you are a consumer
Where you agree to the work at your home or anywhere other than our business premises, or entirely at a distance by phone, email or our website, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the contract being formed, without giving a reason.
To cancel, tell us clearly before the 14 days end, by email to info@acnelectricalltd.com, by text or by post to our registered office. We will refund everything you have paid within 14 days of being told.
If you want the work to start inside the 14-day period, you must ask us to do so expressly. You keep your right to cancel, but if you then cancel you must pay for the work already carried out and the materials already supplied, in proportion to the full price. If the work is finished inside the 14-day period at your express request, the right to cancel ends on completion.
This right does not apply to work on goods made to your specification or clearly personalised.
8. Rescheduling and cancellation outside the 14-day right
You may reschedule or cancel without charge by giving us at least 48 hours notice before the agreed start. With less notice we may charge for materials already ordered specifically for your job, and for a half day of labour where we cannot fill the slot.
We may reschedule where illness, an emergency call-out, material delays or weather prevent us attending. We will offer the earliest alternative date, and you may cancel without charge if the new date does not suit you.
We may cancel and refund any payments you have made where the work turns out to be unsafe to carry out as quoted, where you have not met clause 5, or where we reasonably believe the property or the information given to us has been misrepresented.
9. The 12-month workmanship guarantee
Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion. If a fault arising directly from our work appears in that time, we will return and put it right at no extra labour cost.
The guarantee does not cover:
- Faults in existing wiring, equipment or installations that we did not install.
- Misuse, accidental damage, overloading, tampering or work carried out by anyone else after we finished.
- Normal wear and tear, or the normal life of lamps, fuses and consumable items.
- Faults caused by water ingress, pests, structural movement or damp.
- Work where the remedial items we recommended were not carried out.
- Jobs that have not been paid for in full.
The guarantee is personal to you and does not transfer if the property is sold, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Goods and equipment we supply carry the manufacturer’s own warranty. We will pass on the benefit of that warranty and help you claim under it where we can.
This guarantee sits alongside your legal rights and does not replace them.
10. If you are a consumer, your legal rights
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 our services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time where no time was agreed, and for a reasonable price where no price was agreed. Goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Detailed advice is available from Citizens Advice at citizensadvice.org.uk.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our work, tell us as soon as you can by email to info@acnelectricalltd.com or by calling +44 7752 200731.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days, investigate, and give you a written response within 21 days. Where an inspection is needed, we will arrange it at a time that suits you. Please give us the chance to put the work right before engaging anyone else, because costs incurred without giving us that opportunity may not be recoverable.
12. Our liability
We hold public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance. Evidence of cover is available on request.
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable at the time the contract was made.
We do not limit or exclude our liability in any way for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for breach of the terms implied by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
Subject to that, our total liability for any one job is limited to the greater of the price paid for that job and the amount recoverable under our insurance.
We are not responsible for:
- Defects in existing installations, equipment or wiring that we did not install or were not asked to inspect.
- Damage to concealed services, cables or pipes whose position was not marked or disclosed to us and could not reasonably have been detected.
- Making good decorative finishes beyond basic patching, unless the quote includes it. Chasing, lifting floorboards and drilling leave marks that normally need redecoration.
- Delays or additional costs caused by other trades on site.
Where you are a business, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of production, loss of business, loss of contracts, loss of data or any indirect or consequential loss, and the Consumer Rights Act clauses in these terms do not apply to you.
13. Events outside our control
Neither of us is liable for failing to perform where the cause is outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, flooding, fire, utility failure, strikes, epidemics, civil emergency, or failures in supply chains. We will tell you as soon as we can and agree a new date. If the delay runs beyond 30 days, either of us may cancel and we will refund any payments for work not carried out.
14. Using this website
The content on this website is provided for general information. We take care to keep it accurate but we do not warrant that it is complete or up to date, and no part of it is a quote or technical advice for your property.
The content, design, text, images and logos on this site belong to us or our licensors. You may view and print pages for your own use. You may not copy, republish or use any part of the site commercially without our written permission.
We may change, suspend or withdraw the site at any time. Links to other websites are provided for convenience and we are not responsible for their content.
15. Your information
We handle personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
We may photograph completed work for our records, for certification and for our website and social media. Photographs will not identify your address or any person without your permission, and you can ask us not to use images of your property by emailing us.
16. General
These terms, together with the quote and our Privacy Policy, form the whole agreement between us and replace any earlier discussion or correspondence.
Where the quote and these terms conflict, the quote takes precedence. Any purchase order terms or supplier conditions you send us do not apply unless we agree to them in writing.
We may transfer this agreement to another business, and we will tell you if we do. You may not transfer it without our written agreement.
If any clause is found to be unenforceable, the remaining clauses continue to apply. If we delay in enforcing a term, that does not prevent us enforcing it later.
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your job is the version in force on the date your quote was accepted.
A person who is not a party to this agreement has no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
