The information we collect
When you contact us. Through our quote form, by email, by phone or by text, we collect your name, email address, phone number, the postcode or address of the property, the type of electrical work you need and anything else you tell us in your message.
When we quote and carry out work. We collect the site address, access arrangements, details of the existing installation, site contact names and numbers, photographs of the work area and installation, and the information needed for certificates and test records. For business clients we also collect company name, purchase order references and billing contact details.
When you pay us. We collect billing details and payment references. We do not take card payments through this website and we do not store card numbers.
When you use this website. We collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you viewed, how you arrived at the site and how long you stayed. This comes from cookies and similar technologies, and is explained in the cookies section below.
We do not ask for special category data such as health or biometric information. Please do not include it in a message to us unless it is genuinely relevant to safe access or working arrangements at the property.
Why we use your information
| What we use it for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and preparing a quote | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Carrying out the work you have booked, arranging access and scheduling | Performance of our contract with you |
| Issuing certificates, EICRs, test records and RAMS | Legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in evidencing compliant work |
| Invoicing, collecting payment and keeping accounting records | Legal obligation under tax and company law |
| Honouring the 12-month workmanship guarantee and handling callbacks | Performance of our contract with you |
| Health and safety, risk assessment and insurance | Legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in protecting people on site |
| Handling complaints, disputes and insurance claims | Our legitimate interest in defending and resolving claims |
| Sending occasional service reminders or offers by email or text | Your consent, or our legitimate interest where you are an existing client |
| Measuring how the website is used and how well our advertising performs | Your consent, given through the cookie banner |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest is outweighed by your rights, and we have concluded it is not. You can ask us to explain that assessment at any time.
You can withdraw consent for marketing at any time by replying STOP to a text, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or emailing us. Withdrawing consent does not affect messages already sent, and it does not stop us contacting you about a job we are carrying out for you.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for other organisations to market to you.
We share it only where we need to, with:
- Electricians, apprentices and subcontractors working on your job, who receive only the details needed to carry out and certify the work.
- Our accountant and bookkeeper, for invoicing, tax and statutory accounts.
- Certification and scheme bodies, where a job must be notified or registered, including notification under Part P of the Building Regulations for notifiable domestic work.
- Suppliers and manufacturers, where a part is ordered to your site or a product warranty is registered in your name.
- Our insurers and professional advisers, where a claim, complaint or legal dispute arises.
- Our IT, website, email and marketing providers, who host or process data on our behalf under contract.
- Public authorities and regulators, where the law requires us to disclose information.
Every supplier that processes personal data for us does so under a written agreement, acts only on our instructions, and may not use your information for their own purposes.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time through the cookie settings link on the site, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies does not affect your ability to use the site or send us an enquiry.

Where your information is held
Your information is held in the United Kingdom and in the European Economic Area. Some of our providers, including Google, process data in the United States. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision made by the UK government.
How we protect your information
We keep access to client information limited to the people who need it, protect our accounts with strong passwords and two-factor authentication where it is available, and use reputable providers for email, file storage and website hosting. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to prevent loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we will tell you and the ICO about a breach where the law requires it.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate information corrected.
- Ask us to delete information, where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
- Object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Ask us to restrict how we use your information while a concern is being resolved.
- Ask us to transfer information you gave us to another provider, where this is technically possible.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis we rely on.
To use any of these rights, email info@acnelectricalltd.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge, and we may ask you to confirm your identity before we act.
Some rights are limited. We cannot delete records we are required by law to keep, such as certificates, test records and accounting records.
